Penicillin - Streptomycin 20-20

PENICILLIN 20 - STREPTOMYCIN 20 Injectable solution

COMPOSITION (per ml):
Procaine penicillin G                                     200.000 IU
Dihydrostreptomycin base (as sulfate)                 200 mg
Procaine hydrochloride                                         20 mg

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
This product consists procaine penicillin G and sulfate dihydrostreptomycin, which combination, often, appears synergia of antibacterial action. Procaine penicillin G is penicillin of small spectrum, with bactericidal action against GRAM(+) bacterias. Streptococcus (Str.viridans, Str.faecalis), negative at penicillinase staphylococcus, Corynebacterium spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus anthracis, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Clostridia, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Actinomyces and obligatory anaerobe microorganisms (as Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum) are sensitive to it. Non-sensitive are staphylococcus that produce penicillinase, pseudomonas enterobacteria and proteus. The development of bacteria resistance is caused by the ability of the bacteria to produce penicillinase, generally. Dihydrostreptomycin has a bactericidal action, mostly, against GRAM(-) bacterias. Sensitive to it are the following bacterias: Pasteurella spp., Mycobacterium spp., Brucella spp and staphylococcus. Non-sensitive are various strain of Pseudomonas. The resistance of bacterias to dihydrostreptomycin can develop quickly, due to the production of inactivating enzymes.
