PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Kanamycin belongs in the group of aminoglycosides and has antibacterial qualities. Its effect appears during the development of the microorganism.
It is effective against GRAM positive and negative bacterias. Among the bacterias, that are sensitive to the action of penicillin are the following: Enterobacter, Salmonella, Brucella, Streptococcus, Haemophilus, Proteus, Klebsiella, Hycobacterium, Shigella, Staphylococcus, E.coli, Neisseria.

INDICATIONS
Is administered for infections of respiratory, digestive and urinary system, caused by microorganisms sensitive to kanamycin and to sapraemia situations. Especially, it is administered for:
Dogs and cats: gastroenteritis, peritonitis, bronchitis, laryngitis, cystitis, arthritis, sapraemia, outer ear’s otitis, endometritis, post-operative infections.
Generally: bacterial postoperative infections, traumas, and scalds.

ADMINISTRATION AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION:
The product KANAMYCIN - TETOROS is administered according to the following dosages:
Intramuscular injection: By divided dosage per day (per 12 hours)
Dogs, cats: 20-40 mg/kg of body weight daily

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not administer to animals with hypersensitivity in aminoglycosides, renal insufficiency, neuromuscular disorders, and to young and old animals. Do not administer during pregnancy. If reactions of hypersensitivity are observed, then the treatment is interrupted and are administered antistaminics and adrenaline.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
Reactions of hypersensitivity, damage of kidney, diminution of hearing, neuromuscular repression, digestive disorders, edema and pain at the spot of injection

INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS
It should not be administered simultaneously with other antibiotics (chloramfenicole, tetracycline, or other aminoglycosides). The simultaneous administration with cephalosporines or diuretic of the loop increases the ototoxicity and the nephrotoxicity of Kanamycin. The risk is greater, when there are aggravating factors as vomit, diarrhea.

OVERDOSE
The consecutive administration doses higher than the recommended can cause ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity.

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The administration of the product should be avoided during pregnancy

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON ADMINISTERING THE PRODUCT TO ANIMALS
Is possible for   the persons who use Kanamycin to have reactions of hypersensitivity on their skin (itch, eczema). It is recommended to wash carefully the hands or the other parts of the body that come in touch with the product.
