PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Colistin is an antibiotic of Polymixine group. The antibacterial spectrum includes GRAM (-) and GRAM (+) bacteria. It is also active against infections caused by E.coli, by species of Salmonella, Shigella, and Pasteurella, and by various enterococcus.
TARGET SPECIES
Calves, piglets, lambs, and broilers.
INDICATIONS
Prevention and treatment of dysenteriae and diarrhea caused by bacteria, at young animals.
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Calves, piglets, and lambs: 1 gr COLISTIN 350 per 70 kgr of body weight.
Broilers: 15-20 gr COLISTIN 350 per 100 lt of drinking water.
The treatment lasts 3-6 days. In case of infection of breeding, the preventive dose should be half of the treatment dose.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not administrate to:
• Layers, the eggs of which are intended for human consumption.
• Animals, that present muscular dystrophy or partial palsy
• Cows and sheep.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
The administration of dosage greater than the recommended is possible to cause renal and neurotoxic disorders and neuromuscular exclusion.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS
Colistin presents a synergic action with sulfonamides, aminoglycosides, tetracyclins, etc. Do not administer simultaneously with medicines which induce neuromuscular exclusion because is reinforced their action.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
During the therapeutic or preventive administration, the solution of COLISTIN -350 should constitute the only source of drinking water and be replaced daily.

People who use this product don’t have the obligation to take extra precautions.
