OXYTETRACYCLINE L.A. 20% Injectable solution
COMPOSITION (per ml):
Oxytetracycline base (as dihydrate) 200mg
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Oxytetracycline L.A 20%is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic, with antibacterial action against GRAM + and GRAM - bacterias, except from species of Pseudomonas, Klebsiella and Proteus. Also, the antibacterial spectrum includes leptospires, spirochaetes, actinomyces, riketsias, chlamydias, some mycoplasmas and some protozoon. The bacteriostatic action of oxytetracycline is due to the inhibition of metabolism of glutaminic acid, resulting in the inhibition of synthesis of bacterial proteins. Bacterial resistance at tetracyclines develop many species of bacterias. Especially, resistance show species of Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, Proteus, Aerobacter, and Enterococci. Also, among tetracyclines, there is crossed resistance. The excretion of oxytetracycline becomes via the renal pathway with the non-metabolism form and partial via the bile. To the dairy animals, excretion becomes via the milk also.
