Doxycycline hydrochloride 150 mg

Calves, pigs and poultry
INDICATIONS
Treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensible to the action of doxycycline, in calves, pigs and birds. It’s very effective for the treatment of respiratory infections, and especially in the following ones:
Calves: Bronchopneumonia and pleuropneumonia caused by Pasteurella spp, Streptococcus spp, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Haemophilus somnus and Mycoplasma spp.
Pigs: Atrophic rhinitis caused by Pasteurella multocida and Bordetella bronchiseptica. Bronchopneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida, Streptococcus suis and Mycoplasma hyorhinis. Pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
Poultry: Chronic Respiratory Disease (C.R.D.) caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and E.coli. Rhinotracheitis caused by Bordetella avium. Tracheitis and airsacculitis, caused by E.coli and Heamophilus paragallinarum
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
a) Known or suspected hypersensitivity to tetracyclines (there is a complete cross hypersensitivity among the antibiotics of tetracycline – group)
b) Administration to animals with hepatic deficiency
c) Administration to laying hens
d) Administration to other animal species than those indicated
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The product can be administered orally, by adding to the drinking water or the milk. Generally, the indicated dosage is: 10 mg doxycycline hydrochloride / kg of body weight, daily.
Concerning the product DOXYCYCLINE 150, the dosage mentioned above is equal to:
Calves: 10 g DOXYCYCLINE 150 per 150 kg of body weight for 3 – 5 consecutive days.
Pigs: 200 g DOXYCYCLINE 150 per 300 lt of drinking water, for 3 – 5 consecutive days.
Poultry: 200 g DOXYCYCLINE 150 per 600 lt of drinking water, for 3 – 5 consecutive days.
The drinking solution of doxycycline, must be replaced every 24 hours
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
-It is possible to notice gastrointestinal disorders and modification of intestal flora with consequence the probable activation and other pathogenic microorganism.
-Hypersensitivity reactions
-Yellowish colored growing teeth
INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS
Avoid the simultaneous administration with other drugs
There is an active competition between doxycycline and other bactericidal penicillins and cephalosporins.
Avoid the simultaneous administration with iron ions, magnesium, argil and manganese. These elements can interact with doxycycline and give inactive chelic substances.
OVERDOSE
It’s very difficult to be created toxicosis with doxycycline, according to international bibliography (minimal cases have been reported). In those cases is enforced to stop directly the administration and to start the symptomatic treatment to the weakling.
USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
No reactions are observed when the product is administered at the recommended dosage
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
The potable water that contains doxycycline should be renewed every 24 hours
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON ADMINISTERING THE PRODUCT TO ANIMALS
In case of possible or known hypersensitivity at tetracyclines, direct contact or respiration of the product should be avoided. It is recommended to use gloves and masks at any case.
